Create Pollinator Habitat the Easy Way
Pollinators like butterflies, honeybees, dragonflies, and birds are in trouble due to pesticides and the destruction of natural areas where they make their homes. Monarch Butterflies declined a startling 80% in just a few years when Monsanto, a giant chemical agriculture corporation, cleared Showy Milkweed from its massive land holdings. This species of butterfly relied on that one plant alone to complete its life cycle. But pollinator habitat loss doesn’t need to happen.
Many groups have risen to the challenge and are working together to save our precious pollinators from extinction. Because if they go, we go. Almost our entire food supply is dependent on these beneficial insects for pollination. A key way each of us can help is to create pollinator habitat in our own back (and front) yards.
We developed Eco-Launchers in 2009 to make it easy for folks to encourage butterflies, honeybees, and other key pollinating species to visit their yards for a rest and a snack. Eco-Launchers are specially formulated seed bombs designed to allow anyone from students to bicycling groups get involved easily and also have the greatest impact. With every package, anyone is instantly empowered to restore degraded natural areas with needed pollinator habitat while having fun. Have a field trip planned? Need an activity for your party or workshop? Eco-Launchers will stimulate learning, laughter, and fitness while making a difference.
