This project was for a single professional woman thinking about her retirement. She owned a home in the city and wanted to grow her own food and reduce her maintenance costs and water bill. She told me her neighborhood looked unsustainable.
The results included a front yard transformed with water caching bioswales, fruit trees, edible ground covers, and permeable parking pathways. In the back yard she got a beautiful Asian focal point featuring a custom trellis, native plantings, a beautiful water feature to drown out the sound of the nearby freeway, and an ecological lawn she could sit on without having to mow or water.
