A family in need of a little privacy

This Permaculture Master Plan project enabled a young Portland couple with two children to fit an outdoor dining space and a fire pit for entertaining their friends into their small back yard.  They also needed privacy on three sides, a dog run, and a safer play area in their front yard for the kids.

What we did

Dug in

The result was a private back yard screened with plants and an unexpected sunken fire pit seating area that excited guests, made room for fruit trees, and allowed the family to have a deck for eating outside. The formerly unused back corner of their lot became a functional and beautiful dog run, and their daughter's street-facing bedroom and front yard are now safe from view and unwanted foot traffic.
